Allan Briggs

Allan Briggs, founder and owner of Briggs Communications, grew up in country Victoria.  He started his professional career by working his way through the ranks of Victoria Police. Allan spent 16 years as an operational police officer and ten years with the Media and Corporate Communications Department as Sergeant.

At Victoria Police was involved in the media management of events such as  the gangland shootings, lost children, demonstrations, as well as coordinating open days at the Police Academy for 90,000 visitors. During this time, Allan saw how effective a good public relations and media campaign could be to raise awareness and create behavioural and attitudinal change. He also gained valuable experience in crisis media and managing the media during his time with Victoria Police.

Allan spent four years managing the Media and Public Relations Unit at the Victoria State Emergency Service (SES), increasing monthly media items tenfold, to further establish the brand and develop sponsorship. As part of the development of VICSES media unit Allan helped many communications practitioners with their careers in public relations and taught his staff how to work in public relations and with the media.

Allan founded Briggs Communications in early 2010 and with a passion for communications he has built a solid reputation as a straight-shooter who gets results. Briggs Communications has built an impressive list of clients consulting to many local and state agencies in the community. He is the ‘go-to person’ for Crisis Media, runs accredited Media Training courses and knows where to source the Talent for available positions within the communications industry. Allan continues to lecture in the University sector and makes regular public speaking appearances at conferences around Australia.

Allan Briggs is supported by a team of dedicated professionals with work experience in Public Relations and Corporate Communications.

Anne Serry

Anne is our Business Manager. She is responsible for the day-to-day flow of operations and business performance. Anne applies a blend of strategic skills and creative solutions to address a wide range of business goals and issues.  Anne’s professional background includes experience in business management, marketing and advertising having managed accounts in Financial Services, Health Care, FMCG, Emergency Services, Property and Aged Care.

Anne is currently undertaking a Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy, and when not working she can be found running laps of the lake or decorating her home.

Astrid Leslie

Astrid joined the Briggs Group in 2011 and is our resident writer.  She has a disciplined and methodical approach to her work along with a keen eye for detail.  We welcome her fresh approach as she embraces every challenge with a positive ‘can do’ attitude.

Astrid is completing her Postgraduate Diploma in Public Relations at RMIT and has experience in the leisure, media, and education sectors.  A keen traveller who has returned to Australia to pursue her career, Astrid brings energy and enthusiasm to the Briggs group.
